Least Terns - No Place to 'Tern' Print
Sunday, June 03 2007, 14:00 - 15:00
With the loss of natural beaches, most Least Terns now nest on top of roofs, where they face new challenges.

With their "chick-a-boom" for chick rescue and their "Tina Tern" booklet for education local Audubon chapters got involved in protecting Least Terns and Tampa Bay's other Beach Nesting birds.

Started in 2001 with about 10 Audubon volunteers, the Beach Nesting Bird project now involves about 100 people in the Tampa Bay area, coordinating protection efforts with wildlife agencies, parks, preserves, refuges and overseeing research by college students.

Presented by Monique Borboen-Abrams, Beach Nesting Bird coordinator, St. Petersburg Audubon Society.
Location: Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary
