Join Dr. Gabe Vargo as he presents the natural history of birds of prey.
Birds of prey, or raptors, use their talons to capture food and are uniquely adapted to be efficient predators at the top of the terrestrial food chain. Once persecuted by humans and impacted by the widespread use of pesticides, birds of prey are now protected worldwide and allowed to fulfill their roles as regulators of ecosystem health.
Live educational assistants (real-life hawks and owls) will help the audience understand the distribution and natural history of raptors as well as their adaptations that contribute to the success of these magnificent birds.
This free program is family oriented. All ages are welcome.
