Feb. 25: Southwest Fla 10th Annual Burrowing Owl Festival

Cape Coral FL is home to the largest known BURROWING OWL population with over 2500 burrows throughout the city. The festival celebrates the start of the burrowing owl nesting season. Guided tours to active burrowing owl burrow sites, live birds of prey from Maitland Audubon center, noted speakers w/PowerPoint presentations. Wildlife artists,vendors, environmental & wildlife groups. Food & music.

March 10:  Birds of Weedon Island -- The Feathers of Florida, Past, Present and Future!
2-4pm
at Weedon Island Preserve (map) Pre-registration required.

From the plume trade to future trends, learn how Florida’s coastal birds have shaped our country’s conservation successes. Join a Sensing Nature biologist to explore how Pinellas County residents are making a difference and how you can too! After the indoor presentation, participants will experience Florida’s natural wonders on a nature walk.

Join Sensing Nature for this 3-part Birds of Weedon Island series. Attend one, two or all three programs. Participants attending all three programs will receive a “Florida Waterbirds” Identification Poster by Wildlife Artist Ernest C. Simmons. Adults and families welcome. Limited space.

March 17, 2012, PELICAN ISLAND WILDLIFE FESTIVAL
10:00am - 6:00pm, Riverview Park -- Sebastian, Florida.

Environmental exhibitors will be on-hand with live wildlife, arts and crafts, and environmental displays. Feature presentations include live wildlife shows and live music. Many family activities are available including boat tours, kayaking in the Indian River Lagoon, kid's activities, bird watching and history tours.
