Members’ Meeting

Every year, we host a special meeting for members to socialize and celebrate the end of the chapter season. Over snacks and drinks, we will share our birding stories from the year, hear about student projects, and learn about the chapters’ plans for the future.

“Let’s Go Birding” had an incredible turnout for our very first year! We would love feedback for the event, so please take a moment to fill out the survey.

Highlights of the event included a Bald Eagle being chased by a Laughing Gull; a Sora sighting; a bird feeder and seed for a raffle winner; and Birding Bingo for attendees. We look forward to next year!

Field Trip Highlights: Eckerd College

“The joint field trip with St. Pete Audubon and the Eckerd College Ornithology Club was so much fun. We managed to see 40 species even though there were 55 of us. The campus is a very bird-y place! Big thanks to my co-leaders Trevor Clair, Connor O’Brien, and Ashlee Minor.” - Beth Forys, Vice President & trip lead

Volunteer Opportunities

Shorebird stewardship: Help Audubon Florida educate beachgoers at shorebird and seabird nesting sites in Pinellas County. Please contact Holley Short, Shorebird Program Manager at holley.short@audubon.org.

Purple Martin monitoring: Assist with monitoring nests and maintaining houses at Lake Maggiore and Jorgenson Lake. Please contact Mark Frohman at mffrohman@aol.com.

Help Wanted!

Do you love planning? Are you detail-oriented? Do you love getting people excited about birds and other conservation topics? The Board of Directors needs your help organizing our programs and field trips!

Programs Chair/Coordinator: This person will coordinate speakers for our monthly meetings from September - March. Our general meetings are every third Tuesday and held via Zoom or in-person. Our current year is almost over, but planning for the 2024/2025 season will start in June/July. There is a lot of flexibility for this position based on your interest!
