Applicant Eligibility

Eligible institutions — Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate program at a local institution. Institutions based in Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties are considered local. Students from institutions outside of this region must be conducting research relevant to the Tampa Bay area and St. Petersburg Audubon’s mission

Eligible academic concentrations — Applicants must be pursuing degrees in biology, conservation, ecology, environmental policy, natural sciences, or a closely-related field.

Demonstrated interest conservation — Applicants should demonstrate an interest in the conservation of natural resources through extramural volunteer, internship, or professional service.

Support of a faculty adviser — Applications must include contact information for a faculty advisor or mentor at the student’s host institution. This person should be aware of the applicant’s pursuit of funding and may assist with the disbursement of funding. See the application submission page for more detail.

Funding for student training, travel, or educational opportunities — Educational training or travel opportunities will also be considered by the review committee. Such applications must demonstrate their relevance to St. Petersburg Audubon’s mission.
