Field Trip: Withlacoochee State Forest (Red-cockaded Woodpecker & other forest breeding birds, Croom Tract)

Field Trip: Withlacoochee State Forest

Leader: Bev Hansen

https://www.fdacs.gov/Forest-Wildfire/Our-Forests/State-Forests/Withlacoochee-State-Forest

We'll meet at the intersection of Croom Road and Forest Road 7. The intersection of Croom Road and Forest Road 7 looks like nothing else on Croom Road. It is a

big open area on the south side of the road with a wood fence horse corral. You can park anywhere there, including in the corral. On some maps that area is called

Smith Prairie trailhead. Please contact Francesca Di Cosmo (fieldtrips@stpeteaudubon.org) for directions and arranging car pooling.

This trip requires pre-registration. The link link is forthcoming.

What to Bring:

We will walk through brush, so wear long pants and closed-toed shoes, hat, binocularss, water, insect repellant, and sunscreen.
