Kids are curious so why not expose them to birding early? National Audubon Society offers resources for kids of various ages to engage in birding. From fun facts to hands on activities, there is so much to discover.

Birding for the whole family.

Explore local parks that are perfect for the whole family to go birding. You never know what you might see right in your neighborhood!

  • This gem in the middle of St. Pete offers boardwalks and a dirt trail that the whole family can enjoy. If you’re able, walk up to the lookout tower and see what’s wading in the water below! It’s the perfect escape for a quick birding trip.

    Facilities are available as well as one picnic shelter.

  • This park has a little bit of everything. Looking for a longer hike through various habitats or just a quick visit to see the resident birds and education center? Boyd Hill is the place to go.

    Keep in mind that there is a small admission fee:

    $3/adult | $1.50/children ages 3-16 | Under age 3 is FREE

  • Looking for birding outside of St. Pete? Check out this park located in Largo. This is a prime spot to see restored wetlands while walking along the boardwalks. There are several picnic shelters and a playground to make for a well-rounded trip.
